I have seen a huge difference in how my patients respond and how their bodies respond. I also see a lot of people who don't see the benefit. I don't know what causes this or why it's not as effective as advertised, but I am trying to understand and to help. I also write about these issues here.
How I got started with hormones I've been researching hormones for years, but it was only in 2009 that I had the courage to ask the doctor I work with to give me hormones. This doctor is a former sex addict and also has a background in medicine. He gave me all kinds of free supplies, like condoms, dildos, lubricants, and even penicillin. He also gave me a list of hormone-related drugs and treatments that I should use. The list included: estradiol, medroxyprogesterone acetate, tamoxifen, and testosterone cypionate. I took all of these for the first year. I knew nothing about hormones but my doctor assured me that the treatments were safe and effective, which is what I needed at that time in my life.
I am glad that I didn't use these drugs or try to use them to get pregnant, since the side effects of my hormones could have been deadly.
